The people in the second photograph are playing the Namibian hus balgame.

Rundu lies at the entry to the Caprivi strip, at the Namibian side of the river Okavango (Cubango in Angola), with amazing views over the Angolan highlands. A bit more shabby to Namibian standards, the influence of nearby Angola is very strong, with a Portuguese speaking community and more mixed people than in Tsumeb.

I’m leaving a camera at Hugo’s Metal Works, a welding cooperative in Namibe.


I burned my photographs on CD at Sociedade Negro e Filho, one of the Vietnamese-run business centers along the highstreet in Lubango and I left them a disposable camera as well.
