Huambo by day

By daylight, Huambo looks nearly beautiful. There is a lot of destruction, more by war than through total neglect. Some houses and streets are being rebuild and done up with rows of freshly painted houses.

I’m taking a mota to the Praça Nova (new market place) to find out about transport direction Lubango. It’s far out, past the old praça where I passed yesterday night. By day, the difference with yesterday isn’t huge. Some trading is going on, but an empty space filled with broken wooden sticks in the ground stays an empty space with broken wooden sticks in the ground. Some metal workshops lining the main road are busy, and there’s the hustle and bustle of the taxi’s and mota’s, nothing else. As everything else in Huambo, new is better.
